The cruelest thing about loving a man deeply is how your heartbreak starts sounding exactly like your loyalty. You call it “understanding him” for months, until one day you realize you were just surviving rejection politely. He grows distant in inches you can barely explain to your friends, shorter replies, colder eyes, affection with its pulse missing. And somehow the more unloved you feel, the harder your heart works to prove it deserves staying. Some women do not break loudly. They wash the dishes, send the paragraph, say “it’s okay” softly. Because rejection always weighs the same as the love you carried and the women who loved the hardest usually leave the quietest.
