At 14, I watched rain gather in the parking lot behind the school, each drop falling with the anticipation of something about to begin At 21, I lay awake in my bed, tears streaming like headlights across my ceiling. I almost found something to say At 29, a woman asked me where I saw myself in ten years. I laughed then answered honestly: I've never been that far ahead At 37, I stood inside a grocery store forgetting why I had come. An old song played overhead, and for one moment, I missed someone whose face I could no longer recall (Don't let this be it) Don't let this be it.
