This brought to mind a similar episode from many, many years ago as I sat waiting in a Greyhound bus station. I wrote a poem about it right on the spot.  Here it is:

A swaggering "March for horseshoe-cleated heels" reesounds
Through distant corridors and draws near.
A splash of Air-Force blue spills
Out across the marbled floor
And laps against the counter.
Its wave recedes and is forever lost
In the swirling depths of humanity.
