Game developers keep players within their grip
they write the narrative
edit the script
They create the characters and label the walls
set the worlds boundaries, and for the antagonists,
label them all
They add the music and sing moving tunes
and stir up strong emotions that cover
the twists and the clues
And they add customizations, make-up and scars
battle passes and fancy dress and voice-overs
for whoever you are
And then, when the plans come together, they let out some leaks
and listen to feedback, learn lessons
make tweaks
Set out posters of your heros with weapons a'trillion
and show them striding through smoke
amid the chaos and villains
And then they pick out a place to soft launch some hype
release an alpha bugs, a beta for funds,
and surveys for the target audience type
And then, with the eyes of the world await for play
Go to LA, Chicago, Minneapolis
and Maine
Make a contest for your players, let 'em take it by storm
give them weapons and masks to turn them
into the heros you swore
Give them missions, targets, fire, immunity called ICE
and guns, way more guns
to fuel their fight
And all the while, watch. Outlast the media storm
for soon their thirst will have them clamoring
searching for more
More villains to tackle, more cities to take,
more code words to use
and colors to hate
And while you embrace hype, dear devs, what's that pocketbook say?
It says: get them young, keep them guessing
give them bigger targets to prey
