She’ll say goodnight to the sunrise With a twinkle in her eye The sun pays no mind And she cries like a child if told otherwise; Like a woman in love She goes out of her way To get him a star When all he wanted was the moon A star too soon And she cries from the wound; Like a woman in love She shares her bed without a ring Roses under dust Dry leaves in the wind Ice on the drive Vaulted thoughts And she cries like a maiden A princess in a tower, A trodden upon flower; A woman in love. Two minds with four different eyes No two pieces deemed to fit Shadows under different light Clinging to the same unmoving stone Alone and apart Without ever sharing the same heart She cries without ever letting him know Tears falling as silently as snow Without a word she lets him go Like a woman out of love.
