But don’t overwhelm them
With all of your needs
Protect yourself.
But don’t set boundaries.
Don’t be assertive.

Have children.
Even when you’re forced.

You’ll regret it if you don’t.
But raise them alone.
You’re their mother.
You’re a woman.
And after all of that
they still wonder
why you’re angry.
Why you’re loud.
Why you’re done listening.
