love does not fade it transforms like matter like the ashes from a forest fire that burnt down millennia ago the fishes that swam upon a tepid lake the first words of an innocent child the last breaths of a dying mother the fur on my coat from my beloved cat the grief of losing what we once thought was our world so much that we tell ourselves no one else could ever compare because the truth is, no one will ever compare to you (no one ever does) even after our bodies crumble back to the earth and until only the dust of the earth remains i know for certain this love will never fade

you'll be in my heart, always may we find ourselves, dear
