In the cold air of a winters morn She stood at the docks waiting for him to come home As the rain kissed her face her makeup misplaced And skin now becoming pale In the distance she could see the ship sailing with ease Her heart begins to gather time Tears start to flow mixed with the cold And her cheeks feel the sting of her pride Gathered around amongst the crowd The sounds of many hearts cry For soon they’ll be near The men who once feared The war that took them away Like moths to a flame She knew that one day The love of her soul would he would claim And now the rain falls so hard Without any remorse As the ship starts to berth once more With tissues in hand she wipes away the tears and the cold His cold hands grip the rail as he stands Looking for the love now waiting for him on the dock Together they shall be In the house by the sea No more wars to take him away
