I’ve never noticed how light bends around someone, until I saw you sit by the sideline, sunrise on bleachers, pale gold spilling across your pink cardigan, your smile shines brighter than your pearl earrings. My stomach did something weird, like bubbles popping one by one under my ribs, your eyes meeting mine hit me like a slap of sunlight through an iced-fogged window. The sweet raspberry scent of your perfume wafts around you, like I'm sinking into a bed of clouds, you make everything feel like morning, you're a burst of flame. Your voice sounds like a rain lullaby, tapping the roof in the afternoon, those soft giggles from you casting rainbows and sunshine, and before I knew it— you're my yellow in a world full of blue.
