A grandfather clock Stands Silent Waiting to be wound At ten to three Ten minutes from chiming Ten years from chiming? A rocking horse Bows its head Waiting for a child It could wait a million years Chopped wood Rests in a fireplace Waiting for kindling and a spark A trampoline stands quietly Waiting to stretch its springs Tiny eggs roll silently along fallopian tubes Waiting to meet ***** Lost lost lost
