by robin barnes sandwiched between the earth and the stars i felt small and insignificant i remember once looking out the window of a plane and think how giant mountains seemed only as high the ridges on your fingertips and the deepest canyons hardly seemed to scratch the surface it made me think what is all this fuss about? and i let the comfort of my own simpleness hold me as i fell asleep that night in my small bed in my small room i felt strangely at peace
