Smoke starts to rise Not from a candle, but the mountainside A noise, A grumble, The Earth's tummy did now rumble The locals, now fleeing their home Herculaneum to Pompeii Remembered forever on this one immortal day Vesuvius, she opened her hatch To terror and fury Not one human could match As we visit in hoards Those folk forever in volcanic lava Even a dog and it's man Couldn't escape that horrific palaver JJB
