Rend forth the sky and Rend forth the sea. In earth’s depths lies my demise As nature itself should cast me. Cast me down to frigid lake To fill my heart with bitter frost Push me under until I wake Or never do, and find the cost. The cost of my greed and envy: A tumultuous mind, my righteous end. The Great Oak’s roots tangle and frenzy As they grab hold and make me bend. Make me bend and make me bow - To keep a promise, to deny my pride - To Heaven and Earth, as I once vowed And in the spring, reflect upon my every lie. Every lie I’ve whispered sweetly Every tear I’ve wrung and bled. Until my ghost is laid out cleanly And no longer this waltz may I pretend. So within your grasp I offer myself To judge, to rend, to love, to quell. To rend my skies and rend my sea, As you, my love, should cast me.

For Vows Broken
