If the sky weren’t blue,
what color would it choose to be?
If it turned yellow,
would sunlight lose its shine?
If it painted itself black,
would the nights slip by unnoticed?
If red washed over the sky,
would it look like angels bleeding?
If by chance it turned white,
would the clouds vanish into it?
What is the color of heaven:
light blue, or white?
Like rising foam
spreading beyond the clouds?
Where would the colors go
if they simply disappeared?
The plumages would lose their colors,
and the gardens would be spooky and pale.
Would we still have imagination without them?
Don’t tell me “Days would be gray”
Gray is still a color.
There would be no black,
not even white,
no blue skies,
no yellow sun,
no pale moon,
no rainbow after rain.
No color at all,
a life with no colors,
a life with no joy.
It would be no life after all.
