You just wouldn’t go away,
You stuck to me like glue
I never meant to hurt you,
Not in the way I did,
And the ways I do
I was just trying to protect
The parts of me I hid.
And wished weren’t true
Your words still echo softly
In corners of my mind,
Little ghosts of memories
I never left behind.
I tried to let them drift away,
Like ashes in the air,
But every step I took from you
Still somehow led you there.
So now I hold the fragments,
Though I never asked them to stay,
Because some hearts keep pieces
That time can’t take away.
I tried to set you free,
I tried to let you go,
But some people leave their shadows
In places they don't know.
So the pieces that I carry
Are not just pain,
They’re true
They're quiet proof that once in time
My whole world looked like you.
