Never have I seen
So many politicians
Taking away people's rights
Under the banner of freedom
While purposely forgetting to
Speak about truth
Truth is not trendy
Truth is not in vogue
Except maybe as the
Concept of a lie told
A thousand times
That's Goebbels, by the way
Surely the latest mantra of
MAGA, AfD, Fratelli d'Italia
And many others...
So the powerful blame
The vulnerable for their failures:
The immigrants and the Muslims
As they once did with the
Gypsies and the Jews
Until the masses
Can no longer tell
Windmills from giants
But truth, you see
Has a terrible habit
Of being inconvenient
In the best possible way
You can beat it
Shatter it to pieces
And throw it on
The trash bin
But you can't **** it
It's always there
Hidden in plain sight
As a constant reminder
That the darkness doesn't
Last forever
