Between Machiavelli
And Donald Trump
Both were indifferent
To moral considerations
Both used tricks and lies
That tested people’s patience
It’s not that big a jump

Political expediency
Lacking in morality
And both had a thing
For pluralities
It’s not that big a jump
Between Machiavelli
And Donald Trump
Both used extremely
Dishonest methods
And both were lacking
In basic ethics
It’s not that big a jump
Between Machiavelli
And Donald Trump
Both were cunning
And had no moral code
And history has shown
What that forebodes
