By: Cedric McClester Let me get this straight There are some things I hate But at any rate I feel the need to state That I love America Despite her checked past And I want America to forever last I love America And I’m not ashamed Of pointing out her shortcomings Some I’ve even named But I can’t think of another country That even can compare Or offer me the freedoms That I enjoy right here I love America That’s not a euphemism Yet that doesn’t mean It’s beyond all criticism When viewed under a microscope You see a certain prism That elucidates all of our Schism as well as glaring isms I love America But I often wonder Does she love me Judging by How I am treated And the things I see I love America But I can’t just let her be Cedric McClester, Copyright (c) 2015.
