To catch the government's ears To say, "Cannot ye hear?" Politicians never realize the money They squander didn't just wander Into their coffers. Instead, the people Working, must drain their pockets dry, And never shirking, must be the source Of revenues that politicians squabble o'er. The whole thing's on its head, instead, The government pretends it produces The people's bread. The government Never milked a cow so dry as its constituents. The lot of 'em raise taxes from the pockets Of the working nation, Then pays them back in expectoration.
