I carry the sky in one hand The weight, it burns But still I stand. Late Evening, and all the cities are hushed But I am awake For we cannot lie crushed. A struggle, A shout, A whisper, A plea, But why bother to beg? I shall not be set free. When the dawn breaks, I continue to weaken With my ever-strong hope; My bad fate will be beaten. Until the day comes When I have gained freedom I carry the sky During this endless season.

Becoming Atlas
I carry the sky in one hand The weight, it burns But still I stand. Late Evening, and all the cities are hushed But I am awake For we cannot lie crushed. A struggle, A shout, A whisper, A plea, But why bother to beg? I shall not be set free. When the dawn breaks, I continue to weaken With my ever-strong hope; My bad fate will be beaten. Until the day comes When I have gained freedom I carry the sky During this endless season.
"Atlas" refers to the titan in Greek mythology that was forced, as a punishment, to hold up the sky for the rest of the world. I am a perfectionist but also get overwhelmed very easily, and that is why I wrote this poem. Also, this is one of my rare rhyming poems!
