The stars are bright tonight And the little children are sleeping So tight and A scattered dust of distant fire Across the velvet of the deep They answer to an old desire While weary lands lie fast asleep A million eyes that watch and gleam And every star shines so bright and They whisper in a silent dream Of journeys ended and battles won So small we seem beneath their gaze Yet part of all their ancient light Lost in the wonder of their maze and Our souls take wing into the night As we sit and watch the stars shine tonight.
