I watch the clock hands
On the wall
Turn up to twelve
Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock,
And again my wife
Beckons me
To come to bed,
Not sit steadfast
In all that dread;
But thoughts still
Rumble around
Inside my head,
How slow the time passes
As the hour approaches,
How time stands still
Almost to the second,
As clock hands
Reach twelve,
As clock watchers watch
Time almost to a stop,
Abrupt to an end
Straight up;
While the rest ignore__
Say, a watched ***
Never boils,
Tick-Tock, Tick-Tock,
Tick-Tock,
How doomsday
Never comes.
