I saw you standing there And suddenly became blind The darkness seemed so infinite Yet it was a darkness I knew I grasped it in search of something Real, something of substance Still I found nothing I called through the seemingly endless end Hoping for any answer, Whether it be the dark or myself, calling back Being alone never suits anyone’s fancy Still I find myself alone Just my thoughts and I traveling Through an endless state of loneliness And yet there you stand, still A vivid image of what I wish I had With one hand at your side and the other Reaching, reaching, through the dark Awaiting the time my misguided hand will find yours Through it all But here I sit, all alone, searching With only my will to lead me on Through the familiar darkness

A Familiar Darkness
