They left Scotland's Bonnie hills, For pleasure and for game, Across the roiling foam they went, Their country to defend. In ranks, they stood with pibroch clear, Mothers, sweethearts shed a tear. Among the brave, with tartan wave, Amidst the shot and shell, they gave. Broken hearts were left behind, Yearning for their love, unkind. Now that they are dead and gone, In mourning, hearts still carry on. Mothers grieve, sweethearts weep, In memory, their courage keep. Though he lies in foreign grave, His spirit strong, a hero brave. Upon that land, a cross does stand, For one so noble, a boy so grand. In remembrance, he will stay, A soldier's tale, forever play.

"In Memory of the 1-5 Gordon Highlanders"
A tribute to the men of the 15 Gordon Highlanders, honouring their duty, courage, and the loved ones who carried their memory. In reworking A.D. Bains original, I've aimed to preserve its spirit while deepening the emotion celebrating a legacy woven into Scotland's soil, soul, and sorrow. Let the words sound on, clear and proud as the pipes once did.
