It was just us that night Laying together on a too small blanket An audience of stars staring down at us I felt your hair innocently touching mine The relentless morning sun stole you from me I heard your car pull out before I had a chance to say goodbye I tried to forget The streetlights orange glow Leaves dancing in the cool breeze as we walked to the lake How the spotlight of your dark eyes made me feel like I could love again Now you drift to sleep in my arms and I know Some things aren’t meant to be forgotten

When you least expect
It was just us that night Laying together on a too small blanket An audience of stars staring down at us I felt your hair innocently touching mine The relentless morning sun stole you from me I heard your car pull out before I had a chance to say goodbye I tried to forget The streetlights orange glow Leaves dancing in the cool breeze as we walked to the lake How the spotlight of your dark eyes made me feel like I could love again Now you drift to sleep in my arms and I know Some things aren’t meant to be forgotten
