I hold up several worlds, Try to fix two pieces together Even though they clearly don’t match. Hide secrets, both mine and others With all my life, even though it’s draining. Never the friend, always the enemy That just wants peace. My ears record every scream and shout Playing every sound on repeat When I’m alone in the dark. I try to cover up the red eyes with smiles, Apologise for shattering under pressure, And the smashing of cupboards That makes others flinch But makes me freeze As I repeat the moments That shaped who I am. I listen to the echoes of the past And the deadly silence now Wondering what I can do to live. I burn for you to Ask me if I’m okay, Ask me what’s going on, Ask me to reveal my secrets. I wake up and wonder, If today is the day That I’ll be free from the worlds I hold And you will hold mine.
