The funny thing about a comfort zone
Is that you’ll never want to leave
Since risk lies in what isn’t known
Why would you ever leave?
But not leaving what you’ve only known
Blinds you, traps your growth
This river churns the waters foam,
Takes eyes and blinds them both
And since this blur is all you’ve known
Of course you’d never see
The shallow skin that shows your bone,
How much you’re made to bleed
You’ve been trained to take each hit
As the current lets all loose
Not knowing peace would let you sit
And breathe with no abuse
So when you reach a calming pond
Life’s taught you what to know:
There is no peace, no growing fond
When rapids rip and throw
So you throw yourself away from calm,
Dive into the rapid rush
This “comfort” holds you in its palm,
And keeps you comfortably crushed

The only way to grow is to be willing to take risks and step outside of what you’re used to
