I don't want the wind to take me where it blows I want my roots to hold me in place Let me turn my back on the falling trees That were swept away by this gentle breeze Helpless as their strong roots mistook their stillness for stiffness And left them without telling them it was time to leave My roots shiver as the wind brushes past my shoulder And laughs at my resistance to its sweeping ways As it descends slowly to my feet, I pray my roots root for me.

Roots
I don't want the wind to take me where it blows I want my roots to hold me in place Let me turn my back on the falling trees That were swept away by this gentle breeze Helpless as their strong roots mistook their stillness for stiffness And left them without telling them it was time to leave My roots shiver as the wind brushes past my shoulder And laughs at my resistance to its sweeping ways As it descends slowly to my feet, I pray my roots root for me.
