By: The-Drifter-From-Heaven As I look in the mirror, I'm now but a shadow of my prime, Years have caught up, on body and heart's rhyme, Memories of yesteryears, forever etched on my mind, Alone, forgotten, love's painful grind. Remembrance of children's laughter—an echoing chill, Laughter that once belonged to my own, my heart's deep thrill, Sadness creeps in, like autumn's fading light, A quiet resignation to life's fleeting dance tonight. A wishful prayer I chant—for my children to come over, To bridge the gap of years and relive love's gentle cover, In their loving arms, I'll find my peaceful nest, And within their love—my heart takes its final rest.
