Someone slams your precious art
Remain Open
Callously pokes and prods your heart
Remain Open
The world wants you to close the door
Remain Open
Wants you curled up on the floor

I live off the highway
a big road going nowhere,
though you did promise to take me somewhere
miles and miles away from here.

It's a five minute drive,
forty five minute walk,
fifty when you're high,
and a couple butterflies away from your front door.

You told me that I was the one,
thanked me for everything I'd done.
When the rain stopped,
you said no more.

When suddenly we weren't drowning,
and the sun began shinning,
you kissed me goodbye,
leaving me torn.

You found your new home in another girls arms,
and safety in the sheets with another boys lips.

You left me
lopsided and woozy,
alone and dazed.

You're a liar.

You told me everything was going to be okay.

I put my nose in the air to smell the smoke in the sky

It lead me to a boy with fire in his eyes

Burning, bright and beautiful

Before the house came down I had to make him mine

I couldn't allow him to fall away like the ash inside
