Star BG
Into canvas landscape
to mirror journey I shall paint.
With word pigments as poet
sharing a mirror of self.

Sometimes colors are bright,
giving air of peacefulness for eyes.

Other times dark like night,
exposing just a glimmer of hope
from stars.

Tonight, I paint as hand heavy
lifts pen-like brush.

Grey’s for sadness
inside breath.
Red for pain of heart
from loss.
Brown for mud stuck to feet
feeling trapped.
Black for despair
that shadows me.
Tiny yellow specks for tinge of hope.

I paint to express
from deep carven forged from past.

Perhaps tomorrow my colorant will change.
More night time healing

Addi Anderson
She’s like the ocean;
Mysterious, Beautiful, Wild, Free
Yet so lonely.
Each move she made was full of grace,
Even if it meant hurting you.
She’s cold to you at first,
But after a while, she gets warmer and lets you in further.

She’s like the ocean;
Like the wind, and the stars mixed together.
She taught others
How to drown and
To feel things above the sky.

She’s like the ocean;
Calm and still, rough and rigid
But in the end she is
Captivating and beautiful.
She’s built up a wall around her like a sand castle;
And when the ocean crumbles it down,
I’m afraid she’ll drown.

She’s like the ocean;
Stormy and calm
At the same time.
She was the tide;
Always drifting in and out of the lives of those who loved her,
Eternally indecisive,
Unable to discern whether she desired the solidity and safety of land,
Or the wild freedom of the ocean.

I know a butterfly with broken wings
He’s made of smiles and light
Oh, he loves it when I sing
I’ve seen it make him cry

He said he found a way to fly
Even with that broken wing
I told him I’d never seen flight
Quite as beautiful as his
He claims that he can fly
But cannot move his wings
He only rides the breeze
I fear the wind will leave

She is writing words
To ease my hunger for more
But her verses are invisible
More like existing in another plane
Not in my universe

None latest poems come
No words spoken in between
Unaware remain restless
For words of grace and more
One hundred in store

Reading about what could be
Whatever is unfiltering
A random chance
Of not seeing
Not on their page
Not for me
