Every season brings its joy
Of ever wished for spills
Luscious Summer watermelon
Sweet Autumn's Maple flow
Winter nog and brandy, oops!
And Spring's ripe berry juice
But it's OK, to clean up I will go
No need to be careful here
Oh Summer and Autumn
You've made such a mess!
And Brandy and Berry
Please feel no duress
With joy and due diligence
I'll clean up I guess
The previous poem was about 2 people
An attentive and happily aware reader gave me the idea to make it 5.
sun squares on the hardwood
the morning robins
She laid landmines in my skull that detonated weeks later*.
one day i'll find the courage to walk away, and on that day i'll promise to never look back
i’ll name you after a flower
and i'll let raindrops fall on your forehead
so that you bloom
i'll plant kisses
like daisies on your cheeks
so that you become a garden
and i’ll sing to you my love
so that you never forget the words,
so that you never doubt you’re loved
and i'll write to you
words i don’t know yet
i will reach to the sky
and bring down stars
to teach you to shine like they do
your breathing feels easy this time of year, falls
heavy right into my arms, collides with my fingertips
as i'm walking past. had i not started picking and sorting
your breath in the summer, curling exhales through the sky and
curing inhales into roses, clasping them tightly between my palms
and drinking the salt from their water, who knows where we would be.
lining paper with wax and bouncing tears from their bodies; hiding oceans of prayers and barking our thoughts to the moon, if i had to guess.
