BEHIND THE MASK
Millie San May 2020
Equality redefined,
Emptied what was full,
Refilled what was empty.

A new world created,
An unexpected turn,
But forward we must go.

Behind the mask is HOPE,
Behind the mask is LOVE,
Behind the mask is FAITH.

THEN AND NOW
Millie San May 2020
It was just like months ago,
We were always on the go,
Friends and relatives never said no.

Our calendars were full,
So much meetings here and there,
A time used wisely but some wasted.

Now we are all staying  home,
We wish things were the same,
Hopeful that things would be better.

Though we found more time to pray,
We learned things the hard way,
That tells us  God is the only WAY.

LOST IN TUNNEL
Millie San May 2020
It started with a smile,
Followed by endless talks,
A voice that was like music,
His gait was a special feature.

A summer walk pause,
As he turned back and looked,
While I stood by the door,
I eyed at him as he walked home.

A love frozen by time,
That could come back in a dream,
A moment that slipped away
A chance lost, gone forever.

We took two different roads,
That brought us to new people,
The wheel turned as it should had been,
Forever lost in the tunnel of destiny.
After watching the movie “The Notebook” the second time, I came up with this poem, if "The Notebook" had a different ending....

CANVAS
Millie San Apr 2020
We are like a couple in a beautiful painting,
Watching the setting of the sun as we clasp our hands.

As we watch the sunset right before our very eyes,
The time seems endless as if there is no tomorrow.

The dusk seems to lose the sun but not the two of us,
As we wait for the stars in the midnight sky.
Created this poem after watching the movie "Somewhere in Time" for the third time.  #SomewhereInTime

CUCKOO'S NEST
Millie San Apr 2020
Face masks a fashion statement,
Coming home and creating moments,
Like counting holes in Sky Flakes.

Skipping all negative news,
Trying at last to be senseless,
Should it be Waterman or Fireman.

Some jokes cracked me up,
Husband dragged a masked woman,
Whom he mistook for his wife.

Community Quarantine extended,
A puzzle of adding chicken and eggs,
More fun if multiplied by bananas.

Living by the day, hoping for a good morning,
A good evening with a complete headcount,
And be nonsensical over trying times.

After 100 Years
Millie San Apr 2020
Desilting the muddy ocean,
Welcoming the blue sky,
Decongesting the crowded road,
And sending back home family members.

Creating distances between friendships,
Walking on an empty space,
Emptying what was full,
And leading everyone to one direction.

After refusing to fathom what is ahead,
Giving wisdom so people may understand,
Letting everyone know that there is just one course,
Lifting up in prayer to our Dear God is the only path.

RUDE DROPLET
Millie San Apr 2020
Being away is kindness,
Covering one's face is goodness,
Staying away is love,
All because of Rude Droplet.

Life
Millie San Feb 2020
Life is beautiful even I have to live in an imperfect world.
Life is more of light than darkness as it welcomes every morning.
Life is beautiful because everyday is another chance to live.
The seconds, minutes, hours, and the day after today is a gift.
Life is beautiful trust me.

May God guide us with HIS everlasting love.

Red Pepper
Millie San Jan 2020
Nutritious as they say,
But takes time to grow,
Like a fresh green plant,
Similar to once new love.

It needs the full sun,
But needs water to balance,
Like a growing plant,
And the fresh love filled with light.

Plant needs consistent care,
As one miss will make it dull,
Like a love gone sour,
Forever lost by a missed heartbeat.

Constant care makes it crispy sweet,
Neglect allows the unwanted weeds,
The weeds grow fast and tall,
Then beyond reach forever.

Magmatic Well
Millie San Jan 2020
A rumbling sound underneath,
For years it has been active,
No one minded to care why.

People flocked around the area,
Despite the terrifying sound,
They stayed on and were stubborn.

Freshwater fishes and fertile soil,
But forever does not exist,
Poor foresight had caught them red handed.

As they ran away to escape,
Ten kilometers, fifteen kilometers more,
They lost the fishes and fertile soil.

Raising their hands to the heavens,
Alms came in as everybody commiserates,
But it continues to spew the burning smoke.

The help does not stop,
It is overflowing with goodness,
But the crater’s wide mouth still shouts.

Perhaps wanting more freedom and space,
As people move away from the island,
Still the rumbling does not stop.

Perhaps wanting to be left alone,
To enjoy its once free clean air,
While fishes swam on its once clear waters.

May heaven listen to the good hearted ones,
As they heed the crater’s flowing tears,
And pacify its boiling madness.
Volcanic landscape viewed from afar.  Nature has a mind of its own.

Blink of an Eye
Millie San Dec 2019
The message is fast,
Knowledge is cast,
In the air and we grasp.

In just one blink,
Everything in one click,
In many pages we pick.

Friends are many,
Are they really plenty,
In FB but not in reality.

Friends across oceans,
They are really many,
But who can you really see.

The Stone Age touch,
Are remembered,
As etched in stone.

These days of fast blink,
Friendship can end,
By just one click.
A poem from an old soul.

Heaven's Gift
Millie San Dec 2019
The lights are blinking,
Bells are chiming,
The star is glowing.

Below the Christmas tree,
We remember the holy three,
Jesus, Joseph and Mary.

Way above the sky,
So far way up so high,
The holy angels sing and fly.

Around heaven they see us here,
As we remember our Jesus dear,
And hug loved ones far and near.

May your Christmas be merry,
Bright and shiny,
All blessings to a happy new year.

Mama Mia
Millie San Dec 2019
My mom just turned 90,
And how happy she had been,
When she made a wish as she,
Blew her cake with smile and glee.

Now her kids are older,
Gained more runs,
With plus to grandkids,
Has gained her more score.

My mom and us is a cycle,
We used to be young,
But now we are not,
And love is the only thing we got.

The Empty Mind
Millie San Dec 2019
I looked at the pen,
And tried to scribble,
Felt the crisped paper,
With dots and just dots.

I looked at the window,
Saw glimpse of the rain,
Still no words to write,
Where is the rainbow.

Oh at last here it is,
After the rain,
Comes the sunshine,
Glowing as I finally write.

Above the Clouds
Millie San Dec 2019
Flying at thirty thousand feet,
I saw figment of my dream below the empty sky.

I remember you promised me roses,
But I never saw the hidden thorns.

It took me years to understand and accept,
It dawned on me I gave you thorns as well.

I plucked the thorns and sow some seeds,
Watered it with love and lots of  sunshine.

May your thorns be gone,
And may the petals turn to red.

The red beautiful roses,
Still have to face the nights.

But it must not forget,
It needs the ray of sunshine.

The days and nights, the water and the sun,
The beautiful garden enriched with love.

CELESTIAL DOME
Millie San Dec 2019
I am from faraway land,
And now looking at the sky.

Sometimes I wonder if it is really true,
That you and I are living under this one big dome.

I cannot see you in that distant land,
And you cannot see me from where I am.

We share the same moon and sun,
But you may be seeing different stars from mine.

Just maybe one day we would see,
The same stars from where I am or where you are.

And the sky above we hope to view,
May connect our minds and hearts together.

PRISM
Millie San Dec 2019
I have searched high and low,
From the mountains and into the seas.

I have flown high to catch the tide,
But reached the ebb tide and fell onto the ground.

With vague hues I looked far to seek,
And found the clear colors right under my nose.

I stopped looking beyond the seas and mountains,
And stayed back where I feel like I belong.

MY JACK
Millie San Nov 2019
My Jack was so dear to me
He shared his 9 years with glee.

He knew when I was lonely
He always wanted to see me happy.

At times he would raise his paw
And would look at my eyes to know.

If I was not keeping any worry
If I had he would wag just for me to be jolly.

Jack would even sing and growl
And raise his snout up and roar.

Jack howled while Mom played the piano
He got one song over his soprano.

Jack is one good memory
And forever be treasured.

Other dogs will never be
As Jack will always be.
