Mysterious
Mansi Apr 2018
On dark mysterious nights
A young mysterious lady
(Who had mysterious black hair
And wore a mysterious black dress)
Brought mysterious black berries
From a mysterious garden
To her mysterious hut.

One day a mysterious man
Knocked at her mysterious hut
The mysterious lady welcomed him in
And gave him a mysterious drink.

The mysterious man died a mysterious death.
Funny how some things happen mysteriously.

A blinding flash of light
Mansi Apr 2018
It was a dark, moonless night
It was raining very hard-
Lightening and thundering-
The wind was blowing fiercely
There was no one in sight.
I was hurrying alone on the street
I was near my home.
Suddenly there was
A blinding flash of light
And it was all over.

I don't need to hurry home anymore.
Life is unpredictable
Enjoy while you can.

Midnight
Mansi Apr 2018
At the stroke of midnight
(Supposedly the time when
Witches with pointed hats
Fly on ancient brooms
In the dark sky)
I feel a chill run down my spine
A new energy filling me up
And a sense of belonging to another world...

Memories
Mansi Mar 2018
A poor fellow's eyes
Were losing their lustre
He had glaucoma.
One day,
His worried friend
Sat beside him and asked,
'What colours will be for you then,
when you lose your eyesight?'
The fellow smiled and said,
'Memories.'

When you're grief-stricken
Mansi Mar 2018
When you're grief-stricken
There's darkness all around
As your world just shatters
And the shards are thrown in a bin
Seems as if-
All these jolly people who surround
Are not interested in your matters.

There is no one to console you.

Beggars
Mansi Mar 2018
Have you seen
those souls
enveloped in grief,
enclosed in shells
of humans
just as poor?
Sitting by the road
begging
for alms -
more than that
for compassion
and love.
When they spread
their feeble hands
in front of you,
just look
into
their eyes.
You will see
all the pain
the neglect
and torture
that they have been going through.
Your heart will melt
with pity.
Even in extremities,
they come up to us
asking for
means
to continue
their struggle
in those hard times.
They hope that
the one they approach
will hear their soul's cry
and be kind enough
to give them a reason to smile.
We we act indifferent
or turn them down
they just shatter inside
oh! these souls
so disturbed
and traumatized -
but knowing
the harsh world around,
they gather
whatever hope is left in them
and begin
their search again
for a generous soul.
India has over 400,000 beggars. Moved their plight and suffering, I wrote this poem.

Apology
Mansi Mar 2018
I wish to lean close
And say in a beautiful prose
Those three magical words
Presented with emotional chords.

"I am sorry."
This piece of writing is for all of them
Whose sentiments I have hurt
By talking in a manner very curt.

Happy Birthday Friend!!!
Mansi Mar 2018
The day so special has come,
We shared so much laughter
Ne'er let the other be glum.

Today, let me say something
And let you hear me out.

Finding a friend is an easy task to do,
But really difficult to find one like you.

You hold the power to make the whole world happy,
You make sure that no one remains unhappy.

Lovely your drawings are,
Beautiful, like the sky's star.

Your creativity is so awesome,
It cannot be mimicked by anyone.

Your voice is so sweet,
It's a nightingale's tweet.

So expressive are your eyes,
They cannot hide any lies.

So gracefully you dance,
You don't leave any chance.

Amazing you are,
In whatever you do,
Rhyming words I never find,
But I found Cinderella's lost shoe.

No matter if anyone thinks otherwise,
To me, you are the greatest friend alive.

You can see me right through,
It's impossible to hide anything from you.

When you fall into the dark,
I shall be the light,
To make sure you become a happy lark.

Physically we might separate,
But from within, we shan't separate.

As we move on, it all changes.
A world we could never imagine,
Has come to face us.
We laughed it off before,
Thinking the time would never come.
Well now it has.

The page has now turned.

This is where the chapter ends
And a new one begins.

I will follow you to the darkest depths
And if you decide to come to the light,
I'll still be there.

All the happy memories that we shared,
As we pass by another year,
I shall never forget.

It will never change,
Even when we're old
And withered
And outlive the rest.
I will  remember you.
Always.

I will always be your best friend.
Promise me you won't do anything
that might bring it to an end.

To end let me say,

Roses are red
And violets are blue,
It's hard to find a friend like you.

Thanks for being a friend so great,
Well I forgot, we ought to celebrate.

Colours
Mansi Mar 2018
Life is a garden of colours
Joy and sorrow are its flowers
Anger is like a thorn
In the field of life's golden corn
Peace should reside in life's bowers.
Mansi Mar 2018
You haven't seen how much poison is there in the world so wide,
People who have it just want to shove you aside.

They want to take the credit for all that you have done,
They'll just sit and make you leap at the Sun.
Didn't I say?
They want to take the credit for all that you have done.

Such snakes slither into your life like a caring friend,
They act perfect, like a true friend is,
They'll impress you, they'll make sure you're following the latest trend,
But it's not until you hit the rocky road, you hear a hiss.

Yes. They show their true self.

They'll bake rumors and spread them far and wide,
They'll chuck muck over you 'til you cry,
Then on your misery, they'll have jolly ride,
They'll never let the pool of your misery dry.

I've seen such a poison viper in my life. Thus, here I stand narrating my plight.
When she came, her manners pleased my sight.

I befriended her.

"What happened then?" You may ask.
Let me tell you.

When she showed her true self, it was like someone hit me with a knife.
Such an over-dramatic and dominating person I'd never seen in my life.

She spread rumors far and wide,
On herself, she takes a lot of pride.

Oh! Those rumors were falser than the word false,
They killed my reputation dead,
And cut all the friendly calls,
I was so depressed, my mind was hanging by a mere thread.
*
She hasn't changed much today,
We''ll never be true friends any day.

I warn you all.

Before you befriend someone, make sure that they are not the anacondas,
They will act friendly in the beginning but observe closely, you will see the changing hue.
Be alert, it won't take them long to forget what real friendship bond is,
Such snakes can never be friends who are true.
Inspired by a real anaconda who slithered into my life.

— The End —
