the Belle of Amherst -
because she'd not stop for death --
her poems still breathe
NaPoWriMo day 5.
Who's getting ready for NaPo?
Is anyone as giddy as me?

Thirty days of thirsty words,
I'll be on a drunken spree.

Are you ready for NaPo?
Do you even know what it is?

National Poetry Writer's Month
A veritable poetry writing crunch!

Join me, join me! This I plea
A poem a day from me, you'll see!

A poem a day from me, from you?!
NaPoWriMo...a poem a day during the month of April to celebrate, commemorate, April, the National Poetry Writer's Month!

And the unofficial theme song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESy-Z8vqMrE

to whittle away
the extraneous, slough off
dead skin which hides the
one who will not force a change,
not compress, contort a soul
Day 2 of NaPoWriMo challenge.
How clever is the subtle Stellar Jay
who clamors loud on swaying autumn's branch
and never sings of summer's fair embrace,
nor daydreams of the trysts of spring's last chance.

Yet eyes so sharp the jeweled beetle under bark;
snaps him up, pries her beak once more beneath the bark.
NaPo 4/3.  Not much time today to write.

betterdays
violets nod dainty heads
dancing to the zephyr breeze

watched over by gum
and swaying willow trees.

verdant leaves all shades of green
have returned if but for a short season

and on the rocks the lizards bask
and the ants continue working.

it is the time in between
the last of the summers sun
and the first leaf fall.

it is the most gentlest time of all

betterdays
when the world was flat
and we were few,
we looked at stars
and made them gods

to help explain the difficult truths,
to give us some measure of understanding to those concepts
to large to be held within our hands.
to find beauty in desperate times
to watch over us...

now the world is round
and we are many
most can no longer see the stars
we look to the internet to explain truth
and concepts seem to be shrinking,
to the size of a tablet screen.
times are becoming more desperate
and we watch each other...

yet the stars are there still.
behind the smog,
beyond the city lights
they hold their sentinels gaze
their beauty is undiminished.

they,for the most part are
still enigmatic, a mystery,
to be unfolded.
and we,
for all our advancement
and trappings
are still looking up....
seeking but not truly finding.

as the oak is always the acorn,
so the poem is always the word,
no matter, how decimated       the tree,
no matter, how faded
the word,

inside resides, the tree, awaiting  the catalyst.
inside resides, the poem,
awaiting the esprit.

always, the essence remains,
embedded...
always, is the outcome, foreshadowed...
etched in, by a code,
known, only in it's base intricacy by one...
the creator.

prompt; write a curtal sonnet.
this is as close as i could get to the prompt
not quiet there tho...
i have difficulty writing
in rhymed schemes
always have.....it is the price
one pays for being a spontaneous writer, i suppose.

there is an art
to being still
and allowing
the world to
enfold you.

betterdays
the giving of salt,
is a delicate thing.

there will always be,
salt
at my table, for those
who grieve, or have lost.

salt can be,
the smallest of things,
the merest touch of
compassionate hands,
a glance,
a memory,
a treasured photograph,
a fragrance that lingers,
even though they are not
there.

it is hard to recieve,
these gifts of salt,
often given freely
from
a caring heart.
when all you desire
is to,
hide and fade away.

but the secret of salt
is in, the reminder,
that
for the sake of all,
you need to stay.

there is salt in crying,
salt in tears,
sometimes
there is salt
in the quiet solitude,
the contemplation of the, changing years.

there is,
little, to no,
salt
in allowing your fear
any power,
any place.

there is much salt
in
finding the strength
to run
your allotted
marathon.

salt can heal,
the heart,
broken.
give strength
to those,
faint and lagging.
reknit,
the patchwork mind.

we will all need,
the gift of
salt....
mutiple times,
through the years,
of our life.

salt is universal,
to all manner of man.

salt is salt unto itself,
salt is ever, needful
salt is always, always kind.

yet,
still,
the giving of salt,
is such a delicate thing
