everyday is different than the one before
we just never know what is has in store
we take it as it comes what ever comes our way
take it as you find it it just another day

wether good or bad we just never know
we must learn to cope as on with life we go
when tomorow comes yesterday has gone
what ever it may bring we go marching on

ok okay
So much pain and sadness
Enveloped in ink
We have so much time to write
While others have no time to think
There is no time for pain
When missiles light up the sky
There is no time for sadness when it is your turn to die
I have the luxury to write and attempt to show it to the world. For that, I am truly grateful. Not everyone has that opportunity.
It was never my intention to place you in harms way.
Enlisting your heart to trouble after we kissed on that precious day.
As time elapsed, my heart took a moment to understand.
You were portraying your earnest emotions subtly then crass.

The turmoil you must’ve felt during the time you kept to yourself…
Causing you to experience agonizing despair while delving into mournful swells…
Find it in your heart to forgive these third degree burns.
For it was never my intention to crucify your kind soul.

My love yearns to romanticize unhurriedly,
Seducing passionately while intimately feeding the soul so fluidly.
Is it too much to ask for an amorous exploration?
For what is love without a genuine vibration?

If *** is all you seek,
Be explicitly direct; don’t play games that will cause deceit.
Otherwise, in the end, ambivalent emotions will prevail.
Crafting a false sense of endearment that will soon be too much for you to bear.

I once journeyed to a crucible of love and hate.
Traveling far beyond the unfathomable depths of heartache.
Hopelessly exiled to endure the slowest of brutalizing pains;
A light was discovered, allowing the abhorrence to dissipate.

Shipwrecked* heart
Sea of *betrayals

Misconceived idioms,
Blindly enslaved.
Was it really worth it anyway?
Fighting with hope;  a lost battle.
Fallible carcasses on a wooden platter.

Poisonous Ivy in my veins;
silent heartbeat bursting into flames.
Time is a thief,
buried beneath the sea.
Was it really worth the wait?
Fighting for love; a lost cause.
Permeable holes in an empty cup.
Troubling nature, impatient thoughts.

Infected,
Standing aloof.
Leveled indifference,
taciturn blind goof.
Lost chance; misleading poker glance.
Arms twisted, magnificent ache.
Ashes corroding the mechanical brain.

Bloodbath,
besieged wound.
Abrasive torture,
revealing the truth.
Cursed fortune; insensitive to pain.
Piercing a bullet through the soul,
expressed disdain.

Adamant rapture
with no return.
Imprisoned belief
with no more fire to burn.

An attempt at spoken poetry.
Thus, shifting to a more metaphorical/vague write than the usual rythmic verse.
Distant shadows,
Traveling into the absence of light.
Illuminating a pathway of sorrow,
Imagining the beauty of Helen’s sight.

Diving into the abyss,
Searching for lost remains.
Encountering a series of melancholic words,
Reliving one's past fate.

Salvaging sunken letters,
Written in Cephalopod ink.
Subsiding into Davy Jones' locker,
In quest of the skeleton key.

Pursuing the Sirens voice,
Inducing a tidal wave.
Awakening to disillusion,
Anchoring hope to reality once again.

The Skeleton Key is a symbolic interpretation of a long lost love dreamed about last night. You will find plenty of symbolisms derived from Greek Mythology and metaphoric expressions within every line. My interpretation may be seen below for those who wish to follow the original meaning of the poem. Hope you enjoy it. Without further ado:

Distant shadows:
– Glimpsing flashbacks of her pleasant sight

Traveling into the absence of light:
– Nostalgic memories fading into darkness

Illuminating a pathway of sorrow:
– Igniting a yearning desire to be with her once more

Imagining the beauty of Helen’s sight:
– Symbolically comparing her beauty to Helen, the Queen of Laconia, who was considered the most beautiful woman in the world in Greek Mythology

Diving into the abyss:
- Taking a leap of faith into love once again

Searching for lost remains:
- Hoping to rekindle the long lost flame

Encountering a series of melancholic words:
– Finding nothing more than sadness and grief, instilled pain

Reliving one's past fate:
– Undergoing the same heartache once again

Salvaging sunken letters:
– Recollecting the unparalleled memories spent together

Written in Cephalopod ink:
– Metaphorically comparing the pen’s ink to the thick black ink that an octopus ejects to confound attackers. Insinuating that each word was written as a method to escape.

Subsiding into Davy Jones' locker:
– Falling into the realm of darkness; hitting rock bottom

In quest of the skeleton key:
– Symbolically searching for new possibilities to alter the tragic outcome

Pursuing the Sirens voice:
– Metaphorically comparing the enchanting voice of the Sirens from Greek Mythology to the hypnotizing nature of her seductive voice

Inducing a tidal wave:
– Stimulating the reticent heart

Awakening to disillusion:
– Awakening to realize that it was just a lucid dream

Anchoring hope to reality once again:
– Symbolically indicating the conveyance of hope from one realm to another

When the moon forces night

I'm knocked down to my knees

Memory fading from sight

Promises I'll never keep

I go and do it again

Order round after round

Might as well be a gun in my hand

Deadly shots with no sound

As the snake in the pit

Takes a bite out of me

I am chewing my lip

So much wanting to scream

Falling off of the cliff

Cause my ledge is too weak

Craziness must admit

Taking the best out of me

Sunlight makes it's first peak

Over the waters edge

In the gutter I sleep

I have made my own bed

In which I now lie

If only I were able

To give up and die

On this, my torture table

The snake in the pit

Will not let go of me

I try and shoot from the hip

To try and bring some relief

I stare at the cliff where I fell

The climb is too steep

Alcohol has a mighty grip

That brings me no peace
Each and every one of us has important dates in our lives from births to marriages, graduations to retirement and so much more. Today is important to me as it's been 25 years since my last drink (Thank you Jesus!) Not realizing it that day, as it was a terrific struggle I went through for months if not years. (You don't realize the hold alcohol truly has on you until your head clears) I pray that if anyone is struggling with this or drug issues that you seek help (there are few if any that can do this on their own) AA is a great organisation or better yet Celebrate Recovery at a local church. But wherever it is you choose to seek help please do...this is one decision you'll never regret. I know I don't!

you will be my favorite hurricane
built from burnt tongues who do
not know the way your
body works. I do. I know
which words will spill from
your lips when they
part and I am making your
arms my new midnight
sky because we both feel
at home in the dark.
my poems will make you
known for your eyes.
ask me what my favorite
color is and I will say
ocean. I will say future.
I will say survival.

For a while there was an elastic band gripping her wrist.
Then it snapped.
The taught frantic energy became dusty residue, a shed snakes skin. Fragments of it lay in the crevices of her cupped palm. Parts of it seemed to wriggle, until they didn't ache any more.
Looking up, the room remained quiet. A bad song landed through the speakers. Time started back up again. The pieces had to be scraped into the apron.
