I want to write a poem
that brings the girl
with the stone eyes
to tears
that will melt away
her barrier of misery
like a butter mint
in the mouth

I want to write a poem
that gives the man with
permanent frown lines
and worn leather skin
a sparkle in his eye
and fulfillment in his breath

I want to write a poem
that makes the heartbeat
a little bit louder
or softer
or stronger
or momentarily
skip

I want to write a poem
that allures people into
staying up until 4 am
searching for others alike
that will give them
the same kind of clarity
in this very cloudy world

Driving along an empty street
at 6pm you
reach the beach.
The sun is halfway set.
You sit there and watch it sink into the ocean.
you think it's gone but then you remember
something you read a long time ago.
You run up to the lifeguard tower
and climb to the top.
When you get there, you can see
a sliver of the sun, setting again.

Nothing is ever gone if you remember
to change your perspective.

Hello my love, we meet again
beneath the trees we once had been.
A thought, a promise, now left to rot;
Your love, a thought, i've always sought.
Two souls apart we'll always wonder
until the day we find one another.
By the lakeside, an artificial sea,
my only lover i'll always know we.
A high price to pay, that of forgiveness.
You leave me here, my only witness.
To the pain I felt, no one will know
because the smile I fake is the thing that shows.
In a plain, with wheat so grown,
the wind it waves has always shown.
The path to you is here and there
growing farther still my heart lay bare.
A one to know, to hold, to love,
the northern star will guide me near.
To land, a-**, i'll always yell,
you are always the shore for my ship to sail.
If I move far away it won't be for her,
it will be to ease my mind, my gold and my myrrh.
For the chance you may travel miles to see me,
Instead of across state, i'll be by the sea.
You can see your best friend, your lover, your man
you can just look from a mountain and see where I stand.
It's a place that I've loved of great history and passion,
my love i'll abide with great silence and ration.
It's a city where I can do great things,
not a prima ballerina me it brings,
it's because I'd be closer to that which I love.
And no longer have to look to the stars above.
Just to wonder if you're staring back at them too;
you'll always be my baby, and i'll always stay true.
We may **** in the lack of because physicality one needs,
but please do not dwell on that which proceeds.
I do not dwell on that which has been,
with you and a man you once called a friend.
I only will live in the time that we have,
and I'll always be here to ease the caution you have.
You may move across state, and start your life so a-new,
but I'll remain chasing you, my soul filled with you.

On the hills of mother America
Somewhere on the greatest of plains
Ten thousand jagged rocks cover my grave
You'll never see them
Only because they have an invisible weight
It is the weight of my insanity
The weight of the darkness in my soul
A weight that cannot be measured
So stone my grave
With your hate filled words
I'll know I'm still alive
Somewhere in the confines of your heart and mind
Another bored poem.

Just one more poem.
Just one more rhyme...
come on brain!
Have you lost your mind?

Just one more limerick.
Just one more haiku...
it's always so easy!
What's wrong with you?

Just one more story.
Just one more tune...
write of winter!
Describe hot June?

Just one more lesson.
Just one more advice...
say it with jewelry!
Teach of vice?

Just one more declaration.
Just one more truth-spree...
do it on paper!
Set yourself free?

Just one more blood-let.
Just one more piece of you...
there's something to say!
What have you accrued?

"Just one more bad day.
Just one more true beauty...
to write it all down!
Isn't it a poet's duty?

Just one more Maui sunset.
Just one more lost friend...
Oh, don't worry!
'One mores 'never end..."
Feel free to critique and praise as you'd like. Look as some of my other poems! Many different ones, although many use rhyme. Thank you!
If you see my ex girlfriend can you tell her,
tell her i took her t-shirt and ripped it up,
tell her i made something good, **** good out of it,
and it fit real well,
in all the places i've got left;
can you tell her, tell her,
i still have her shelves she left me,
and on the shelves full of heavy books and antique cameras,
lies a card she once wrote for me,
because it reminds me to be strong,
and tell her this card,
even though it sits on her shelves,
it is no way a regard to thoughts of her, now, still.
Can you tell her,
I threw away all the kitten food i had left over,
I took the kittens to a new home,
because they would be better with someone else,
i thought, that was for the best,
it was for the best,
can you tell her that?
Can you tell her that,
I miss her, but i don't mourn her,
I don't care to feel anything for her anymore,
as i look at the pictures,
i left of us, messing around,
in the park,
the two most beautiful girls we knew,
that i never deleted.
Can you tell her it took a year and another girl to get over her?
Can you tell her,
it was her that made me get over her?
In her hoody as i walked home,
from the night before,
i realised i had cried so many tears for the wrong person,
but i still loved who she was,
regardless,
can you tell her?
Tell her that i love her and always will,
because there is something inside of me,
that is broken,
broken like a record,
and it never stops, going around, and around,
like she was the record player,
and i was the record,
but something scratched me,
and i was never the same,
played in repeat, over and over, again,
a line sung of love, hate, misery and lust,
in a song that never stopped playing.
And now can you tell her,
tell her that i killed me to love her,
i wore my heart proudly,
bleeding on my chest,
from old battle scars and war wounds,
and tell her,
she should never be afraid to die for someone she loves,
because i want her to know,
that in the midst of all the broken pieces,
i was inside of her, outside of her, and had her,
but i never let her know,
because like a broken record,
i was stuck at the same spot from the last ride.
Can you tell her?
Tell her i think about the times she made me laugh,
really laugh til my soul fell out,
and the time she officially asked me out,
and i had no clue,
and i loved her for that
because she made it part of us.
Can you tell her,
she is missed, and loved,
and though we will never be,
she played me a song i had never heard before,
and i fell in love with her music right then.
Can you tell her?
She left a legacy, and changed the clocks when she left.
Can, you, tell her?

I must not gaze at them although
Your eyes are dawning day;
I must not watch you as you go
Your sun-illumined way;

I hear but I must never heed
The fascinating note,
Which, fluting like a river reed,
Comes from your trembing throat;

I must not see upon your face
Love's softly glowing spark;
For there's the barrier of race,
You're fair and I am dark.
