“What do you think wisdom is,” she asked.
“The purification of life," he replied,
as leant over and kissed her.
You see my eyes
They never lie

But, if you want to
Leave me

They tend to lie

Tells you to bring Moon
For you

Tells you to bring Stars
For you

This is because of you
I change my rule
I change my life
You appear before me, a chance introduction
I feel that familiar flutter deep in my core
I do not let it show
Blonde curls, blue eyes, a warm smile
Who could resist
I observe you quietly, over lunch
You are engaging, I am engaged
Your head tips back exposing the lines of your throat
As your slender fingers raise the oyster shell to your lips
A tremor drifts back and forth between my gut and my heart
O, to run my hands over the curves of your being
To grip those curls as you cry out for more
Your hand brushes mine as the salmon passes between us
An electric tingle runs from my fingers to the curve of my groin
My body no longer pays heed to my brain
No one notices the brief, reflexive flush
You gaze into my heart
And the inner music of chemistry sings me a souring melody
My being, alive with the electricity of forbidden desire
The o, so sweet torture of lust unquenched
Coffee comes and goes, as do you
The excruciating, exquisite glow lingers on

KILLME
It's funny
How a beautiful morning
Makes everything seem like it belongs.
You are not my children,
tender as you are.
You are not my lover,
though you cause my heart to yearn.
You are not my sun,
or my moon,
or my star.

I set you on this rock;
you will not make me burn.

You are simply sticks,
arranged upon the pyre.
You are clever tricks,
though you flaunt my clear desire.
You are not the match,
or the wick,
or the fire.

I set you on this rock;
To see what might transpire.

You will never be a pheasant's egg to be coddled.
You are only this: a calf led to the slaughter.
A poem addressed to my poems, in the midst of the dreaded poetry workshop, where my lovelies are torn to shreds.  An attempt to maintain distance, for the sake of learning.  It's hard.

Abracadabra

Now you see it,
now you don’t

Love

Some say it is magic
and it must be
because it sure did
disappear quickly

Now if only that magic
could mend the heart it broke
when it did
