It comes often
As a surprise
Wrapped in a warm,
Fuzzy, mint blanket
Of love,
Concern and care
And falls like rain
Causing the flowers
In our garden
To dance in full bloom

I have heard
The waves of the ocean
The songbird perched in height
I have heard
The giggle of a small child
The whistle of a train at night
I have heard
The melodies of grand symphonies
The rumble of thunder
And fireworks, too
But I considered myself deaf
Until I heard, "I love you."

The curtains close
over our eyes
And the guns play firework
lullabies

And the band marches
into our dreams
tonight
Parading beneath
our red spotlight

Encore, encore!
We're not satisfied
Their limbs are tired but
the *****'s not dried

The stage demands
its sacrifice
Sleep cannot comfort while
closed eyes still cry

It's going to be a grand collection.

I hope one day I will fade
like the breath of a person,
or finger print on a clouded window
that disappears as fast as it arrived.

I am not brave enough to wipe away
my name smudged into the window,
or erase my existence from this world
as i cannot keep my thoughts straight.
