No sabía si regresar adentro o quedarme.

It was hot inside of my grandmother's house. There was at least 20 people in that small house of hers.I remember walking outside to take a fresh breath of air and I sat on the stairs to relax, watching people walk by. I wanted to see the stars but I could hardly see them. I only could see a few.

In a post in front of me there was a foto of a woman. Just seeing her eyes gave me cold chills, they were..completly black. Her black hair. Her dark red lips. I wasn't sure if I should go back inside or not. I thought about it, but in the end I decided to stay.

After 10 minutes my uncle who at the time was the aame age as me walked outside to give me some company. We talked about our life. Our goals. And our desire to be something in life. He expressed to me what was bothering him..he expressed his thoughts.  I knew than that he had great trust in me when he began to cry and huge me so hard. My uncle is a young man who is muscular and hides his feelings from people. Especially his own cousins.

After he finished talking we both stayed quiet for a bit. Than I saw a white owl that flew around he house of a boy I had met. My uncle said, "They say that if you see an owl it's because someone is going to die." I didn't respond. Because I don't believe in sayings. That white owl stood there all night.

The next day I packed up my bags because it was time for me to go back to USA. I didn't want leave because I missed my family so much all ready, my grandmother and my house. I was at he and I had to go back to a country that was not mine.

Arriving in USA, I unpacked my bags. Everything was good.  Days later, my cousin notifies me that the boy that I had met died. He went to the store to buy food and got shot 2 times.  I than started to remember that old saying. I know that some might not believe and maybe some will. I'm not saying I'm a believer..I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence, but that it happened it happened.

4 years have passed and I still continue to think about that night. So strange..
