but your eyes blaze in
the inferno of your soul
and stars envy them
Lauren Hitchcock Dec 2014
It is when the rain
Begins to pour
And night dawns
That I get this craving
To write poetry

The piano sits abandoned
The keys collecting dust
And how I wish I knew
Just one sweet tune
Lauren Hitchcock Dec 2014
It was your eyes I fell for first
Like a liquid forest fire
They were windows to your soul
And a portal to your heart

I want to softly whisper
incomplete poems
on your collar bones
that don't rhyme with anything
but your heavy breathing.

I want to bury my face
in the curves of your neck
because you smell like the winter clouds
and I've been gazing at the sky
since you left.
