It's called the Hotel Cabrillo
Rent's $550 a month
The stairs are dead
And the brick is sobbing
In 100 years of blood and spit
The tenants are much the same
Except maybe a few years younger
I saw her at the door today
She was my age
Her eyes were bold
Dark
I was covered in sweat from work
She opened the building door for me
The way she looked up at me
Like I was it
Something to see
I haven't seen that look in years...
It murdered the last five years...
The bad ones...
For a moment...
I said "thanks"
She smiled, said "no problem"
But it was

I'm tired of asking you to kiss me.

I'm tired of asking you to kiss me,
with this impatience that sustains
me, an appetite for romance that
is more fragile than the feelings
I barely have for you, after all,
chasing a single spark is hopeless
because they're lost as quickly as
they leave the flame. When was the
last time something felt right?
When something felt right?
The last time something felt
complete because it had run
f  u  l  l   c  i  r  c  l  e, when I was
comfortable being touched
or touching     I hardly remember
a time before this where something
wasn't rushed because i am a habitual
rusher, kiss me, kiss me, kiss me.

You left me in the dark.
I drink from the blood of my own heart.
It is filled with pain after being crushed and smeared upon the walls.

I had to forgive you since you have given me back my life.
Now I can never tell you

We knew it could never be serious.
There were so many things against us... and not enough for us

Still we were drawn together like magnets.
It took too much energy to stop it.
so we didn't

I knew it could never be serious.
But I fell in love with you anyway.
Isn't that serious?

After all this time I still sit here with what's left of my heart in my hands. The tears that fall upon it keep it alive until it is ready for someone new

I don't remember when it started,
The need to baby sit the world.
It gets so tiring sometimes,
A tremendous burden to bear.

The constancy of forethought,
The conscientious words of harmony.
Seek it first to make it last.
Maker of Peace wherever you go.
