To Shine Again

The Spring this year was cloudy,
Darkness ******* my sunlight
Many mornings were stormy
and bitter were most nights

That was until I met you.

I met you in July
and then the heat stopped burning
I met you by accident
and then I suddenly stopped hurting.

I'm so happy to have met you.

The energy you give delivers light
You make my heart feel light again,
It bounces every morning,
waiting just to see your grin
You make me want to shine again
and I can't thank you enough for that.

Please stay for a while,
It's been a long time since I've shined so bright.
I might not dull out again with you in my hand.

I traced your body
The day I left you.

From your brows
To your hips
To just before your toes.

I felt the way
You move with me
And then I sent you home.

Oh how I torture
Myself.

Please don't let me
Let you go.
When I close my eyes now.

Joshua Haines
Above all that is radiant and bright,
she floats above the New York night.
Neon signs and grey faces
look up, pointing, exclaming,
'Look how amazing
the human race is'.

Phantom girl floating, sifting
past and through all that's drifting:
empty eyes and the cracks on
every sunken, cigarette *******
ivory American cheek-bone,
belonging to a person, who
feels like any person: here
but sweetly alone.

All that is radiant,
all that is bright,
think what is beautiful
is flying past and
out of sight.
Tie my shoes 4-3-2,
Don't you know
That I love you
1 and Zero is here,
Amongst my hurt
Amongst my cheer
