I AM

I am the buzzing bees
The slithering seas
I am distraction
I am nature

I am that chance of rain
Dampening the saviors reign
I try to hear from heaven
Yet, I talk the whole time

I have not heard the secret
The call to be still
I have not heard the promise
The purpose of your will
Your plan for my good

I am the world on its knees
I am the prayer for peace
I am surrender

You are I AM
My chance at being better
I am yours

I sit breathing
staring at a lit candle

I hear the gentle
singing of crickets

the world has yet to awaken

another day of life
to open my heart to

a quiet morning
before I throw myself into the day

may I be centered by
inner stillness and peace,
so I may share this morning quiet
with all those I meet today

CONCH
I walked into the gift shop,
Down beside the sea,
There I found a conch shell,
That conch shell set me free.
It opened up the window of the memories held inside,
Memories of days gone by,
Been lodging far inside,
Hidden in quiet corners on the back roads of my mind.
The lure of the sunshine, the sand and the sea,
picked me up and set me free.
Towards the shore I slowly walked.
As the nearer I got,
the more that I could breathe,
I could smell it and feel it.

It's too cold to paddle, no wading today,
I wonder if in winter time,
Do those tiny sand eels play.
Most of those gift shops are closed it's out of the season,
Must have been drawn there for a reason.

I watched the planets form before me
little hard spheres of light
of Life, pulsating
the fabric of space ripped with stars
like holes to heaven
the noise floated effortless below me
the galaxy engulfing my pores
as if it did not know better
and even if it did,
would I still play the part of the quiet unobtrusive passenger?

I rose up over the oceans of space
dipping, swirling, dense shapes shift
and I as well
I plucked the constellations
made them sing for me
inky melodies finding solace in my mind
away from the shifting noise
and as I fell I grabbed the comet's tail
it shook and I shook it in return
finally feeling like I had found home
but I looked around at the familiar blackness
and I realized I had always been.

FOREST

there’s a living forest inside your eyes,
a forest where blackbirds sing about
all the fallen pieces of yours
that you never dared to catch.
Said Myrtias (a Syrian student
in Alexandria; in the reign of
Augustus Constans and Augustus Constantius;
in part a pagan, and in part a christian);
"Fortified by theory and study,
I shall not fear my passions like a coward.
I shall give my body to sensual delights,
to enjoyments dreamt-of,
to the most daring amorous desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear, for whenever I want --
and I shall have the will, fortified
as I shall be by theory and study --
at moments of crisis I shall find again
my spirit, as before, ascetic."

That temporary smile;
           that temporary pain.

I've been so stressed about tomorrow,
that I forgot to live today.
Be easy.
