I want to find a way
to meld our flesh
to sink my soul into yours
like osmosis
or magic
to press my beating heart
against yours
and match its rhythm
I make a wish
that your breath may
become
my breath
and our existence
is forever intertwined
so that my soul
never strays too far
from you
my love

I am a night owl–
night dweller–
seeking refuge in the respite that comes at the end of
every unyielding day.
The black sky is a blanket
that cloaks me with calm–
raven wings enfolding me.
In the night,
I am a bird.
I fly off to observe other worlds that exist
far beyond where the daylight reaches.
I am nocturnal,
and when the sun rises,
I am exposed–
a pale ghost,
trapped in the wrong dimension.
Quiet,
I observe the living from my glass cage–
wings clipped.
My dreams are like furniture that make
this confined space
livable.
My hope is a pillow to rest my head on when I grow weary.
When the Witching Hour comes
and I am in the land of the dead,
I can walk through walls.
I can live other lives.
I can keep my soul–
all for the price of
being
alone.

Our memories are
Like
Old movies
or
A dream that
I once had.

A mystic scene, around the edges frayed–
My numb feet wandered through a shadowed wood.
And then, with weary sigh, my sole form strayed
Along a path to where a lone tree stood.
Its solemn branches whispered in my ear,
While bending at the touch of winter wind,
A secret song for no one else to hear–
Accepting me despite how I have sinned.
I cling to gnarled roots and start to cry;
I lift my eyes and through the branches see
A single bluebird soaring through the sky,
That’s twisting, dancing, flying over me.
And through the fog, I hear its joyful song
And realize it’s been springtime all along.

We had it
something
now held together
in frames of film
because
we lost it
the laughs we shared
like a movie
in my mind
a vision when I close my eyes
memories
of
another life

Oftentimes, I spend my days
Dreaming, thinking, visualizing,
Wand'ring 'round in such a daze;
All the world is mesmerizing.

While the sky is still ablaze,
When everything seems good and bright,
I meander through this maze,
Blindly bereave myself of light.

Lured and captured by the haze-
Darkness is quite hypnotizing-
Into the abyss I gaze,
Feel the terror in me rising.

Yet, I find myself amazed
That shadows of the cold Black Night
Set my heart and soul ablaze
And spirit in my eyes ignite.

My innocence and joy, thriving and burning brightly
Beaming like the sun, then flickering like a flame
Slowly dies down to embers
Smolders, wanes.

My laughter and hope, spirited and whirling wildly
Astir like an ocean, then grows steadily tame
Becomes languid and lazy
Stills, drains.

My ambitions and dreams, alive and beating fiercely
They thrum like a heart, then turn tired and lame
Lose their pulse and fade away
Bleed, stain.

I can taste your misery, and it's killing me.
