once you're weaved into the net
struggeling like a desperate fly
at the mercy of a starving spider

cutting the silk
is all that's left to do

it is friday night
a warm breeze
pets the trees
today
they did a good job

red and yellow
neons illuminate
the silken blood
lovingly woven
into the asphalt

long story short
I just fought God
in a Denny's
parking lot

cold fingers on notched wrists
seeking the lethargic pulse

the air full of heavy smoke
smothered by the ashes

watch our burned-out world
drowning in the faded flames

no words left to say
shivers down the twisted spine

a definite embrace

have you ever seen someone
unbothered by the rain?

their head held high
not afraid of the thunder,
not scared of the sky

as streets are devoured
and the end meets the eye
ignorant of the storms
and the fires down low

someone, unbroken
unwilling to bow

do you dare to wonder:
what they must have done
what they must have seen

because no innocent man
is unbothered by the rain
