Jezebel Sweet Feb 2012
All you'll ever be
Is something I've built you into
Dying for our sins
On your kitchen counter cross

Leaking liquor
Those stigmata wounds
Your shattered pulse melting into my hand

Your deafening presence
Best paired with silence
Begging, my eyes
Bring your pleas to the floor
With my knees

Marlboro lipstick
Just like arsenic
Lust laced with cyanide
Kiss me and you're crucified

Just like Christ
With your sinful, selfish sacrifice
All you'll ever be
Is something I've built you into

She's a little girl
And her rings are just shadows she's tied to her fingers
Lace socks folded over cracked plastic heels
That unsteadily make their way down sticky wooden stairs

Out the back door
Away from his hands
To a corner with an orange stake
Plunged into the ground

Knees in the dirt to pray
God is her only secret

Sometime later, somewhere inside
His shadow falls in her light
And she's reduced to a whisper again

Her green velvet dress will have to come off
He says
Because the last thing he wants her to be
Is a little girl

You're everything I said I'd never touch
You're all the things I said I'd never be
With splintered wood I build a crutch
I'm sheltered here in your debris

Twisting, we're turning
You crash and I'm burning
Razor-sharp chain
And my pleasure is pain

It gets me high when all else fails
Your skin like dirt beneath my nails
Sweeter words never tasted so bitter
**** me, use me, pretty litter

You're too weak to say it
But it's dripping from your lips
I feel the fevered dissonance
In every word you spit
I see the aching hunger
Buried deep within your eyes
I hear the truth that's hidden
In the space between your lies

I could never crave your body
Quite the way I crave your mind
I could take away your soul
Without you ever tasting mine
Desire burning only
For the words that you confide
You can give me all your secrets
And I'll lock them up inside
