We proud few on the fringes of mankind,
Who see the world as others imagine,
Those who choose to leave stale safety behind,
To pursue life with reckless abandon,
Warriors who fight their inner demons,
Scholars who dive headfirst in the unknown,
Ones who see beauty within all seasons,
Who seek to travel where the winds have blown,
The weirdos who defy society,
The oddities who change all perspectives,
Ones who wage battle against anxiety,
And choose to follow their own directives,
We noble outcasts who bring about change,
The world keeps spinning because of the strange.

To correctly correlate,
The facts that we assimilate,
Requires all the minds that calculate,
The truths which we deliberate.
Now, the ones that we affiliate,
With the ideas that we innovate,
Really just appropriate,
The profits we facilitate.

The world was black and white,
Dull and listless.
But then you came.
You were red,
Vibrant, passionate,
Fiery in disposition.
You brought wonder and excitement to my world.
But even colors must fade,
And when you left,
There was only smudges left by your trail.
Reminders of a time of beauty.
But all that remains is the colorless monotony.
All that remains is the grey.

The feel of feet pounding the pavement,
As my lungs take gulps of air.
Nothing breaks my stride,
Nothing can compare,
To the focus of a run.
The way your mind goes blank,
And the only sound is your own breathing.
There is nothing,
But you and the road.

I go through the motions
I go through them day by day
But everything I do
Is haunted by your shadow
I cannot go out
Without the shade of your memory
You hold fast to a corner of my mind
A place I cannot ignore
Let me free
Let me free of your shadow
Jacob Becker Dec 2012
Quietly I let you leave,
Not a word was spoken.
You cried and yelled and screamed at me,
Yet not a word was spoken.
You shoved and begged for anything,
The silence was not broken.
You slammed the door and took the keys,
I was silently hoping.
But there is another that you see,
Leaving my wailing heart broken.
