melt down

words barely flow, the rivers of my mind are dry
my heart has too many emotions all vying to die
on a page in my notebook, or as code on your screens
but the drought is severe so they stay put in my dreams
this was a different poem with the same title but I didn't like it so it'll live in my head instead. what even are words, structure who? ugh.

Aftertaste

I mistook salt for sugar
and it burned my mouth
every time I took a drink.
Sipping, I decided the sting
was more tolerable
in small doses.
But one accidental gulp
sent me running.
and now I’m just left with
a salty aftertaste in my mouth
Or maybe that’s my tears

"we're highly fallible when it comes to forecasting our feelings."

true and beautiful.
