His eyes bring out the naiad in me.
Our love is a poem
The one you think up
Suddenly
Beautifully
Perfectly
But you never dare write

I'll never have the chance
To tell you that
Your favorite poem of mine
I wrote it for you

What's love got
to do with it?
He said,
we eat and drink
and go to bed
and have ***
and then lay back
and smoke
or talk or joke
and then another poke.

What's love got
to do with it?
He said,
we get up and wash
and have breakfast
and go to work
and get down to it
or try to shirk,
then have lunch
and back again to work
or  shirk,
talk or lie
or agree to differ
with the boss
(big fool, total loss),
then home
on the bus or train
avoiding the wind and rain.

What's love got
to do with it?
He said,
we get home
have a bite to eat,
watch TV or go online
or drink ***** or wine,
then to bed
and get down to it
maybe once to twice,
then lay back
and joke or talk
or smoke in silence,
avoiding rows
and maybe violence.

What's love?
Got to do
With it?
He said
lying in bed,
nothing,
not one bit.
A MAN'S VIEW ON WHAT WAS NOT LOVE.
You broke my heart
Shattered it into a million words
I'll arrange them into infinite poems
Until I piece it back together

Remember
Not all improvements that matter
Are necessarily visible
The most important start inside
A seed planted
Now rooting within us
Becoming a permanent change

Your finger
traversed
your rouge
lips

Landing
vertically
with a husky
shush

I was
reminded
then
that blood

...is thicker...
